About Us

  • The concept of Model United Nations dates further back than the UN itself with simulations of the League of Nations. The general premise of the activity is the ability to simulate international relations and work to solve global issues. Delegates (the name of students participating in formal MUN sessions) are typically assigned a country, sometimes with a fellow student. They are given topics to discuss likely associated with current events and problems that affect our world. After immense research, the delegates are expected to be able to communicate their countries' perspectives in the form of conversation, speeches, and resolution (a document of solutions and sentiments regarding the issue). Delegations are judged via the dias (the judge and committee manager) who grade them based on their ability to accurately portray their nations and work collaboratively with other delegates to tackle the topics. The importance of the Model United Nations is to develop speaking/researching/collaboration/networking skills, and even more importantly inspire generations to think critically about humanity as a whole.

  • CU Model United Nations has been at the University for decades. We pride ourselves as an organization built upon the virtues of a global world, aspiring towards collaboration, communication, and community. We organize around the study and discussion of international affairs and participate in a community capable of debating issues with respect and joy. We compete because we care about the topics and hope to collaborate for the betterment of humankind. Through that hard work and dedication, we develop friendships and make connections that last lifetimes. This year, 23’-24’, we hope to continue our success of years past with our annual high school conferences in the fall and spring, as well as attend collegiate conferences in those two seasons as well. For more information about high school and conference colleges, refer to our resources page.

  • CU MUN is excited to begin another year filled with fun, in and out of session! We hope to have strong weekly meetings with activities such as speaking drills/exercises, trivia games and mock committees to get us back into the groove of MUN in our first few weeks together. We then hope to transition to formal sessions related to the topics of climate change, the refugee crisis, the war in Ukraine and many more. Outside of weekly meetings we are excited to have a full calendar of events that engage students outside of our academic worlds. Such events include game nights, team dinners, sports watch parties, and so much more. What we’re most excited for this upcoming year is our collegiate conferences that will take us across the country to compete against other college teams! More information regarding the location and cost to come. Details to follow on our conferences page.
